health benefits of flaxseed oil capsules-Why I recommend these capsules

heart health

Do you have clogged heart arteries or you suspect you do? or perhaps not, but you want to keep you heart arteries very clean?

If the answer to these questions was yes then you might want to carry on reading….

Ever since I found out I had clogged heart arteries I have looked for different ways to help unclog my system. Can you imagine at a tender age of 20 years feeling your heart arteries being blocked? well that was I found out 8 years ago.

For me this was a blessing in disguise because it has helped me learn more about the healthy ways of eating and most importantly ways to keep my heart and heart arteries very clean and healthy.

To achieve this feat of unclogging my arteries was no walk in the park.

This is because I tried many products, supplements and pills in the hope of recovering my heart health.

This process lead to me nearly endangering my health in some instances because of my naivety at the time.

Healthy living
When you do trial and error you always go through dark times.

I have since been wiser and now more knowledgeable about the good supplements the heart may benefit from. There has however been one supplement that has been with me and helped me throughout the years to give me heart health in the way of unclogging heart arteries and keeping my heart strong.

That supplement is the flaxseed oil capsules. I still use these supplements as they are good for the body and never give me problems.

In this article I will be talking about the health benefits of flaxseed oil capsule that helped save my life.

What are flaxseed oil capsules-essentials

Flaxseed oil capsules are derived from a flaxseed. This seed is derived from a plant called the flax.

This seed is known for many of its many desease-preventing abilities which I will be talking about.

It is also known as a power plant for food as it has a lot benefits for preventing many chronic conditions such as cancer and heart diseases.

This is because of the presence of omega 3 fatty acids which are known for their many benefits such as improving heart health, skin health and hair health just to name a few.

The omega 3 fatty acids are plant unsaturated fatty acids known as poly-unsatured fatty acids. These fatty acids can not be produced by the human body but they are very necessary for health of the body.

The flaxseed oil capsules have exactly the same benefits and constituents of its source seed, the flaxseed.

Similar to its counterpart heart healthy oil, fish oil, the flaxseed is filled with alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). The main difference between the twofish-heart health being the ALA structure.

The fish oil already has ALA in it while flaxseed oil gets to be converted into ALA after being consumed in the body.

The other difference between flaxseed oil and fish oil is that the fish oil is made from animal while the flaxseed is made from plant.

If you want to increase your omega 3 in your body both these choices are good, however if you are a vegetarian the best choice would be to take the flaxseed oil.

Foods

The great aspect about flaxseed oil capsule is its ability of being able to be used in many of our daily foods.

Some of these foods may need a little searching or inspection on your part when you are going shopping as they are usually not in the aisles that normal people shop in.

However, there are still foods that you may have not known that use flaxseeds in them.

In this article I will talk about some of the food that contain flaxseeds that you probably use without knowing and some you may have never known.

Foods with Flaxseed oils

CrackersHeart health

Fiber bars

Oatmeal

Granola bars

Frozen waffles

The consumption of these foods can have similar benefits to that of the flaxseed oil capsules depending on the dosages you take.

Capsule usage

If you are considering using flaxseed oil capsule as supplements I would recommend that you use supplements that are certified which do not include other contaminants such as metals.

There are other reviews which suggest that the flaxseed oils should be stored under the fridge to give them the cooling effect. My suggestion would be to do as per the instruction on the bottle which say that you must store them in a cool dry place below 25’C and that works just perfect.

If you buy flaxseed oil capsule I advise that you get one that is organic and cold-pressed.

It is advice able to use capsules that have a transparent bottle as this will help the capsule with getting light and thus giving you the maximum benefits. This will also prevent oxidation.

heart health

I have noted that the type of bottle the flaxseed oil capsules are stored has a huge effect on aspects such as handling.

An example is when I tried to get my flaxseed oils when their was only about 3 left inside. Trying to get just one capsule took me more then 30 minutes (yes, I’m not even joking). This would some times seem as if I was in a war with the bottle.

heart health

To make things worse some times I would end up thinking there is nothing in the bottle. This was due to the opaque bottle (which made me not see what was inside) and secondly the heat the bottle had faced due to the wrong storage (this made the capsules stick to the bottle making it hard to retrieve it).

It is also my huge recommendation to consult your doctor before the usage of these capsules

Pros

Health benefits of flaxseed oil capsules are derived mainly from ALA which get converted to omega 3 fatty acids which has many health benefits that you can look to benefit from.

The following are the benefits that you may derive from these powerful seed capsules:

  • Reduction of Eczema

Eczema is known as a skin condition whereby your skin becomes dry and red. This causes a lot of itchiness which in turn causes your skin to form blisters.

There are many ways that this skin disorder gets developed. Some of these ways are the food allergies you may be eating or the usage of certain perfume which may cause an allergic response.

There are many ways you can help fight off eczema such as the food you eat. This is because some foods may have the essential fats that can assist.

The flaxseed is a great choice for fighting of eczema because it has the essential fatty acids that assist with improving skin health.

  • Reduction of cancer
health
Flaxseed oil fights off cancer

Cancer is one of the most common disease out their and it is usually better to prevent it before it even happens.

Using flaxseed oil capsules can help prevent the cancer such as breast cancer.

According to research done and published in the Journal of Nutrition and cancer, in 2015, it was reported that the ALA which is found in flaxseed oil reduces beast cancer by causing a confusion on the process which causes cancer in the breast cells.

  • Removal of cellulite

As we all age cellulite tends to catch up with us. This is because as you get old or your body fat distracts the stretching of your skin and your skin starts to loose its elasticity.

Most people find it very hard to get rid of cellulite in the skin… Well if you are one of those people flaxseed can be your savior.

This is because flaxseed oil helps with the strengthening of the collagen which then helps with elasticity of the skin.

  • Assists with weight loss
heart health
Flaxseed oil helps with weight loss too

Flaxseed oil is good in lubricating the colon in your intestines more quickly which helps with quick food digestion.

This process then causes your body to loose excess fat through fast as well.

  • Relieves constipation

Since the flaxseed oil helps with the quick digestion of the food in the colon of the intestines it also acts as reliever of constipation.

  • Good for heart health

This is one of the best substances when it comes to improving heart health. This is due to the omega 3 fatty acids in this supplement.

Omega 3 fatty acids found in fish, normally, improve heart health by cleaning the heart arteries or any blockages in the arteries in the body.

I have used this substance ever since I had noticed I had clogged arteries and the results have been very amazing.

This has made me incorporate this supplement in my daily life as a ritual not just because of the heart health but also for the other benefits such as skin health. (I mean why not kill two birds with one stone?)

Cons

Like any other product out their you will also derive negatives from the flaxseed oil.

I will expand on the negatives that I found while using this substance…..

The following are the disadvantages for using the flaxseeds:

Medication conflicts

heart health
Medication such as aspirin must not be used with flaxseed capsules

It is advised that you do not use this supplement if you use certain medication such as blood thinning (aspirins).

This is because, this substance tends to get affected by these medications as these medications tend to do similar work to that of the flaxseed although these medications tend to be more deeper as they are actually chronic medication.

Allergies

Some people may have allergies related to the flaxseed so it is wise to consult your doctor about the usage of you believe you might be one of those people.

Possible allergy could be Vomiting, nausea, itching and swelling. If you notice any of these that could be a sign of your an allergy to flaxeeds.

Final thoughts

Flaxseed oil capsules can really be an all round supplement to your health when taken according to how I specified.

This is due to the versatile benefits this substance has, such as the disease it prevents or fights off. I have been using the flaxseed supplement as part of my life for the past 8 years and I can say confidently that my heart health (clogged arteries) recovered, thankfully.

I would also recommend you have a combination of flaxseed oil capsules with foods that are filled with flaxseed ingredients in them.

I hope this article made you more knowledgeable about the health benefits of flaxseed oil capsules. If you have any experience you would like to share or perhaps something you would like to add you are more then welcome to comment below

I’m not a vegetarian, so I’ve been relying on cod liver oil. However, I do like to see that there are options for Omega 3 supplements for my vegan counterparts. I know that some people swear by that diet and feel better on it.

    Hi there,
I have been trying to find new ways of eating flaxseeds and this might just be the answer. I have no idea of the positive effects they could have on cancer. Thank you so much for sharing.

    • Thabo

Yes this seed is very powerful and can assist people in many disease.
I also found out about it only after I had clogged heart arteries.
      I am glad I could help 🙂

  • Vicki

This is such a brilliant post. Thank you for sharing. I have been taking flax seed oil capsules for many years now and I see no end in its benefits. They not only do all the things you discuss, but they also help to balance out hormones. I started to take them to increase my fertility and I believe they really helped me to conceive twice. It truly is a super food. Blocked arteries are often a silent killer and it is amazing that we could all make such tiny changes in our lives that could make such a huge difference. A majority of adults have poor diets and we are passing on our bad habits to the next generation. This sort of thing should be taught in schools as it is so important. Keep up the good work 🙂

I honestly did not know flaxseed oil capsules existed until reading your article. It seems like there are a lot of benefits to using them! Thanks for sharing some of those benefits and why taking them is important. I use fish oil capsules everyday. I know you said that both are good to use in your article, but is there one that is better than the other? Thanks again for the information!

    • Thabo

      Thanx for the comment Jeremy

I am glad you learnt a lot from the article man.
great stuff to hear you are taking fish oil capsules.
The flaxseed oils and fish oils do exactly the same job .It is just that for flaxseeds they are more for people you dont eat meat like vegetarians while fish oil is limited to one group of people.

  • RAYNHAMACE

Hi like your post, since becoming a vegetarian many years ago, I have stopped taking cod liver oil and now take Flax seed oil capsules, but as a vegetarian make sure the capsule is suitable for vegetarians and does not contain gelatin.

    • Thabo

  • Jessica Gruenberg

Thank you for writing this post. My husband had open heart surgery last year. It has been a drastic change in our lives. The doctors have him pumping down several medicines everyday all day. We would prefer healthy options. I never heard of flax seed oil helping. Thank you again.

    • Thabo

      Hey Jessica
Thank you for your comment. I am soo sorry to hear that about your husband. That is tragic news to hear because I was nearly a victim of heart attack at ayoung age.
Yeah through my research I was able to find out this seed (8 years ago) and it has saved my life to be honest. I am a addicted of healthy options to cure heart difficulties.
Medicine can be actually detrimental to our health in some way or another.

I work in a pharmacy and can tell, that many patients even get the flaxseed capsules prescribed from doctors.
Most of them for gastro-intestinal reasons, but also for skin. Just want to mention that the oil itself can also be consumed for those, who don’t want to drop a pill.

    • Thabo

Thanx for your helpful feedback Felix it is great hearing from someone working in a pharmacy about this topic.
It is indeed a versatile capsule. Thanx for the oil part you shared.

  • Garen

How do flaxseed pills compare to fish oil pills? I have used fish oil pills for several years.

How does the EPA compare to fish oil though?

I was thinking about switching from fish oil to flaxseed. Do you think it’s a good idea?

  • Andrew

I have a big ‘ol container of ground flaxseed that I try and sprinkle into meals here and there – is there a significant difference between the ground flaxseed and the oil capsules? I’d love to find out! Also I had no idea that the type of bottle could affect the product in such a way, how weird! I have known that certain medications will react to certain kinds of materials so manufacturers need to take caution with their bottles, but this is news. Thanks for helping me learn some new things! 🙂

    • Thabo

      Hey Andrew

Thanx for your feedback. I am glad I could be of assistance to you.
With regards to your question there is really no difference between the capsules and the ground flaxseed as they both contain the same components that they were extracted from which is the flax plant. An example would be the omega 3 fatty acids it them.

  • David

    Hi Thabo,

That is some great detailed information that you have in your impressions of the health benefits of flaxseed oil capsules. I enjoyed this and found the information very useful. I can see how this information would help people.

I was very pleased to see that you mentioned medication conflicts in your “cons” section as I do take aspirin for health reasons. Recently I have started to take a daily dose of “Cod Liver Oil plus Omega-3 Fish Oil”, and have noticed recently that I have been vomiting more and feeling nausea. I did not connect the two things until I read your article.

I put it down to “one of those life things” and moved on, as it can be difficult to determine an exact reason for vomiting more and feeling nausea.

Now, I think that I may be allergic to “Cod Liver Oil plus Omega-3 Fish Oil”. Time to do research on this to see if this is a possibility.

    Thanks a lot.

    Peace,
    David

    • Thabo

      Hi David
I am so glad I could help you realize what was sabotaging your efforts heart health.
It is good to note that all the supplements we have may not agree with all of us. In this regards it is always advice able to ensure the product you consume (whether it is a supplement) to check if you may be allergic to it in some way.
I have been doing this for many years and it has become second nature to do so since I never want to pay the price of getting sick in an effect to get healthier.

  • Ivan Brozincevic

    Hi Thabo,

A couple of years ago I read about benefits of omega 3 Fatty Acids intake, and I was amazed by the facts. The similar experience I got from your article, which reminded me I should again implement them in my diet. I was using Fish Oil Omega 3. Now, after I read about flaxseed oil, I am keen to test them.

I am glad to hear your health got better with the help of flaxseed supplements and food. Enjoyed your article, thanks. All the best.

    Ivan

    • Thabo

  • Les Trow

Good informative article about something I’ve never tried. I’ve tried lots of health supplements but not flaxseed.
Unfortunately I’m on Warfarin so I guess it’s not for me but at the very least, I now know that. Thanks !

    • Thabo

      Hey Les Trow

I am glad this flaxseed article was informative for you.

Of course there are always alternatives if you may be allergic to the flaxseed.
