Heart health problems- Know what type of heart disease you may have

We all know that the heart is the most important organ in our bodies, But do you know that the heart can be easily affected by certain Heart healthdiseases without you knowing it? Most people end up finding this when the heart is in a bad condition already, so don’t be like most. That is why in this article I will be talking about the different types of heart problems so that you can be able to spot any of them before they can develop or at least know the symptoms they relate to. I will also be talking about how these different types of heart problems can be treated, their symptoms and also their prevention.

Coronary Heart Disease

Coronary heart disease is known as the narrowing of the heart arteries that are responsible for providing oxygen to the heart called coronary arteries. This is said to be the number one killer in heart diseases. The narrowing happens when the coronary arteries are filled with cholesterol. This can lead to the rupturing of the arteries and ultimately death.

According to Centers for Disease Control and prevention this condition amounts to 370 000 death per year in the United States of America.

Symptoms

  • Chest pains
  • Shortness of breath

Preventions

Preventions are closely related to the treatments as changes to lifestyle changes are a must.

 

Angina

Angina is characterized by the chest pain problem and or discomfort in the chest which comes from the heart not getting enough oxygen-rich Heart healthblood. Angina is not a disease but rather it is an indication of an underlying heart diseases. There are many types of angina that exists:

  • Stable angina
  • Unstable angina
  • Variant angina
  • Microvascular angina

It is vital to know these types, but what is more important is understanding the factors that increase your risk of angina as these can be the starting point of your heart disease. The following are the activities that you should avoid so that you reduce your risk of getting Angina:

  • Unhealthy diet
  • Smoking
  • Over-weight
  • Diabetes
  • Older age
  • Inactivity for a long period of time
  • Family history for heart disease

Treatments

Once you are diagnosed with angina there are a few things that you will have to change. These are what will assist in gaining your heart health back. The following are the treatments to be adhered to:

  • Medicines
  • Diet changes
  • physical activity changes

Preventions

Prevention of angina are as follows:

  • Eating heart health foods which focus more on a plant diet.

Hypertention

Hypertention which is also known as high blood pressure, is a huge contributor of heart deaths. Hypertension is known as the silent killer according to Medicine net. Blood pressure is basically the amount of oxygen-rich blood needed to circulate to your heart. The higher the demand of oxygen-rich blood to the heart the higher your blood pressure.

This is why your blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day. In the morning when you wake up and do activities your blood pressure is high because of the oxygen needed by your heart. At night your blood pressure is low because you are generally inactive so less oxygen is needed to your heart.

The bad thing about hypertension is that it presents no symptoms.It is vital always keep check on your blood pressure as it may lead to may detrimental factors such as death. However, if you really have bad blood pressure the following are symptoms that present themselves:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Dizziness
  • Blurred vision

Causes

According to Medical News Today, The causes of hypertension are not known but rather they are said to be linked to some underlying problem or chronic condition. The most common condition is the Chronic kidney disease. So it is vital to know what problems your body has so you can ask the doctor o deal with it immediately.

Treatments

  • Regular physical exercise

It is recommended that for patients with hypertension to exercises for 30 minutes a day. This can be walking, or jogging, as long as it is moderate. This must be at least 5 times a week.   • Reduce the amount of stress in your daily life

Reduce putting yourself in any situation that will develop stress as this can go a long was in keeping your heart health at a top-level. This can be done by having processes you used to assist with that. It can even mean you must go to a psychology to help you reduce stress levels.

  • Medication

The use of any medication must only be used by people who have level above 130 and those who have a blood pressure level below 30. Before you think of taking any of those medications please visit the doctor so he can advise you. Please do not do this on your own.

Aortic Stenosis

Aortic Stenosis is the narrowing of a heart valve called aortic valve opening. This is usually caused by the build up of calcium. This causes the Heart health dietsblood flow restriction from the left ventricle to the Aorta, which then affect the blood pressure in the left atrium.

Symptoms

  • Chest pains
  • Heart murmur
  • Faiting
  • Reduced ability to exercise

Treatments and preventions

It is always advisable to visit a doctor for you to do a heart ultrasound so that he can prescribe the best treatment as this is a heart health problem just like the others.

 

Aneurysm

Aneurysm is known as the enlargement of a particular artery in your body, more specifically your heart arteries. This enlargement can develop and cause life-threatening situations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say that this heart health disease contributes about 25 000 death per year in United State of America.

Symptoms

The symptoms of aneurysm are usually not detectable unless the situation has become very critical or worse. When that is the case the following symptoms will present themselves:

  • Lower back pain
  • Sore neck
  • Chest pains

Treatments

Normally for treatments It is recommended that you do and MRI scan to detect an ruptured heart artery and CT scan for a ruptured one. The doctor can then assist with the diagnosis part.

I however highly the following as these tips helped me with my clogged artery:

Prevention

Prevention for the aneurysm can be done the same way I recommended above for the treatments which involving a plant based diet and the like. The following are the prevention tips you can follow:

  • Focus on a Mediterranean diet (check out an article I wrote about this great diet with regard to your heart)
  • Be more active
  • Eat more heart healthy snacks like nuts and fruits

Atherosclerosis

Atherosclerosis is when there is a formation of plague in the heart arteries due mainly by cholesterol. This then causes the blockage of the heart arteries which could lead to death. This condition is quite similar to the Aneurysm.

Symptoms

Just like the aneurysm there are no visible symptoms until it gets worse where the artery raptures. This was the condition I contracted due to my eating habits (you can check out my story of how I overcame it). In some cases there are visible symptoms. Here are the symptoms that are possible:

  • Chest pains
  • Anxiety
  • Feeling faint

Treatments and prevention are exactly like those of the Aneurysm (read above)

Atrial Fibrillation

Atrial fibrillation is a different kind of heart health problem. This condition is when the heart has irregular heart beats and rapid heart beats. This can lead to a stroke or heat attack as the two upper chambers off the heart are not working together.

Atrial fibrillation can lead to many complications such as the blood clots which move an affect many organs of the body. It is not considered life threatening but it does require emergency medical attention.

Symptoms

  • Chest pains
  • Confusion
  • Diziness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Fatigue
  • Reduce ability to exercise

 

Causes

Atrial fibrillation according to Mayo Clinic the following are said to be causes for the condition:

  • Heart attack
  • Corronary heart diseae
  • Abnormal heart valves
  • Heart defects from birth
  • Lung disease
  • Previous heart surgery

Treatments

This condition without a doubt needs to medical attention of a doctor because it involves the coordination of the heart internal mechanisms. So if you have the symptoms of an Atrial fibrillation see a doctor immediately so that he can use an electrocardiogram to examine if indeed you do have this condition.

Prevention

  • Eating a heart healthy dietHeart health diets
  • Exercise more
  • Quite smoking
  • Limit or avoid the consumption of alcohol and caffiene
